Another month is in the books. It is time for the August recap here on From the Attic.
The month of August showed an increase in blog views. We went from 207 views in the month of July to 369 views in the month of August. This was a direct result of efforts on social media, specifically Facebook, during the last week of the month.
While we did not see any advertising revenue actually paid out in august, the boost in traffic was good enough to provide a boost to what was earned.
Overall we made decent progress with the blog, and our voice-over efforts. We recorded new demo material and actually applied for some voice-over jobs.
I believe most would argue that the time and effort spent in blogging groups on Facebook is worth it. The issue I have is this is not my main source of income. I spent hours in these group clicking links and following social media profiles last week. The Facebook groups certainly bring results, but I may need to rethink how I use them and which groups I use.
It is the beginning of month three. While July and August were an okay beginning to this venture, it is time to really evaluate what works and what doesn’t work.
September’s focus will be more about growing our social media following and continuing our progress with voice-over work.
T-shirts will become a thing again. August saw no activity and that is not acceptable.Â
We will also think differently about how content is presented and created in order to make better use of time and effort. Significant time and effort goes into the blog content that it leaves very little room for the items we want to focus more on moving forward.
You’ll still get wonderful content, it just may come in a little different fashion.
Ultimately, the month of August puts a positive feel on the journey into September. We had a rough spot in mid-month, but our efforts paid off and built wonderful momentum as we head into autumn.
The change in seasons will likely bring change to the blog and the rest of our efforts. That is a good thing. We want to change as the environment changes.Â
The improvements now allow us to set goals for stats, for income, for content, and prove a path to success heading into 2020.
