Believe it or not, the holiday season will be upon us in the blink of an eye. To prepare for the voice-over opportunities that will present themselves now, it is time to feel the holiday (script) cheer!
This week’s scripts provided by Voices.com allowed us to explore our softer side and do a few silly character voices along the way.
It was a perfect blend of exercises for us as we continue to expand our abilities, but also try to find the right mindset to effectively deliver the message the writer intends. Some messages are warm, some are dry for the sake of comedy, and some are silly, but not just for the sake of being silly.
It doesn’t matter what you celebrate or if the purpose of the gig is to celebrate a culturally-significant day. Seasonal ads mean seasonal gigs. The script could be about the second week of august because that’s when the annual block party happens in your town.
The value in looking ahead to something “seasonal” is to prepare yourself for the right delivery to make your client happy and right mindset to help you expand your client list.
Also, it is never a bad idea to read something that may be out of your comfort zone. Warm and fuzzy isn’t always my forte, but I found it very helpful to get into the spirit of these scripts and challenge myself to do something different.
Speaking of the holidays: why not take a look at the t-shirts on amazon.com? They ware perfect gifts for all those extended family members that you have no idea what they really like.
