Subscribe to my blog? Why would I ask you to do that?

I thought very hard about this question: Why would I ask you to subscribe to my blog?
Email lists are very new to me. As I read more and more from other successful bloggers, building an email list seems to be a necessary thing if I want the blog to be successful as a side hustle.
The advice I have received is from people who quit their jobs to pursue a blog about either weight loss or blogging and spent most of their waking moments pinning this or sharing that or creating this course and so on.
Amongst all the advice, one thing that stands out is email lists. When it comes to monetizing a blog, this was a common factor. And since I’m putting in the effort, I might as well try to get something in return.
The whole point of my journey is to make more money for a more comfortable life. I also want to share with my audience the pain of failure, the lessons gained and the sweet, sweet taste of victory.

I will admit, I have recently started to subscribe to blogs via email. What I have received in return has been very useful. Most are free tips and tricks from successful bloggers, occasionally pitching a course they want to sell.
That still does not mean the information isn’t valuable. Most have been incredibly useful.
I realize that most people don’t want more email. I am with on that thought, but what would a couple more emails per week really do to your inbox? If your email inbox is anything like mine, you won’t even notice.

But it is more than just the possibility of getting emails from someone else. If you really enjoy the content, you subscribe to that content. It’s how YouTube works, its really how all other social media works, we just call it “following” instead of subscribing.
I want people who enjoy this content and want to learn from this content to not miss that opportunity. While I talk a lot about the hustle and making money, the whole purpose of this blog is to share the journey. An email list helps me do that by keeping you in the loop.
I can promise I’m not going to entice you with eBooks and courses on how to do things the way I do them (at least not yet), but I will continue to share my story and hopefully make a few extra dollars doing so.
This does not mean I won’t have a few extras lined up in the future, but for now, expect the world in return. Remember, this is new to me, just as this blog may be new to you.
Reminder – Sunday is Vlog day! I will be posting my first video content here and I must say I am excited to get in front of a camera again. I plan to highlight my progress, explain more about what I am doing overall and give you a glimpse of how I’m going to keep it all organized.
It is going to be a wild ride and I want to take you with me.
