September Grades and October Goals

September Grades

We set some lofty goals from the month of September, and while we didn’t meet our goals, our efforts made for decent September Grades.

Blog Grade – A-

We ended the month with 583 views, which was well past our goal of 500 views in the month of September. This alone doesn’t earn us such high marks. We stay very consistent with content and we even launched a new segment – Workout Wednesday.

The blog was really the only area we met any goals. That may sound negative, but it is more an acknowledgment that our efforts were centered around those blog goals. It doesn’t mean we didn’t do well in other areas.

Social Media – B-

Social media was the biggest driver for meeting our blog view goals in September. We utilized groups and threads to get clicks. We were also able to triple our followers on Twitter. This alone is the reason we didn’t fail in September.

And while these were big positives, we were unsuccessful at creating any meaningful growth in any other platform.

Voice-over – A-

What a difference a month makes. We recalibrated our focus and made some positive movement forward in our voice-over efforts.

While we still did not get a paying gig in September, we actually auditioned for gigs. We also launched Workout Wednesday, which is solely focused on improving our voice-over abilities.

Apparel – F

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as we made no sales and no additional designs or efforts. This is a clear example of how effort directly correlates with output.

October Goals and Strategy

As the season change, it is time for our mindset to change. Up to this point, our efforts have been for meeting numbers, not creating growth and a sustainable future. This is why our October Goals will be more about action rather than results.

Results a good and we cannot ignore them, but if we want to be here 6 months from now, we need to build rather than meet.

October will be more about building blocks. For the blog, that means continuing our consistency in content, learning to better leverage older content, and launching more new content.

In social media, we will need to quit lurking in the background and make a better effort to actually be engaged in the community. Doing things like asking questions, providing feedback, and overall being present.

For voice-over, building means going back to the goals from September we did not meet and building a better sales package to market our talents. This includes creating a new demo reel, creating a better promotional video, and getting a resume together once we have the experience to showcase.

We will also need to harness the momentum we have built and continue to put the effort in to grow as a voice-over talent.

For apparel, we need to find our motivation again. This was an area that was promising in the beginning but totally fell off the radar. We have the ideas, we have the skill, now we need to have the drive to put it all in motion.
