From a Third-Story Window: The Beginning
Last updated on July 11th, 2019
“We hold these truths to be self-evident…”
It seems fitting that I would post this on the day we Americans celebrate our underdog victory over the British empire to secure our independence to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. And while I might not be fighting redcoats with guerrilla tactics, I am declaring my independence.

For too long, many of us are shackled to a life that says go to work, get paid, use that money to pay other people for essential things, use the rest to acquire other things and never really get ahead. Suppress your dreams and survive because your dreams will keep you from achieving wealth and fame. And you want that, because that is what everyone wants.
No, really, it is. Trust us, we’re the people you aspire to become.
So, you get a job. You work that job for awhile and then you get a better job. Maybe this one has benefits. you start to build savings for now and for later. You use that to buy a home, a new car, a new TV, or even remodel your bathroom. It begins to spiral until you look at your bank account and realize you don’t feel any better because that sick feeling you get when it appears you have a $30.00 balance in your checking account and payday is still a week away.
That is why I am here.
“Shut up and take my money!”
I’m not here to take your money, even though I will be doing things in an effort to, well, take your money. I am here to chronicle my journey into not really “taking” your money, but earning yours and other people’s money out the corporate employer I give 40-plus hour a week. I’m not savvy in business, but I have a skill set that can be help to those who are – creative work.
Have I ever used these skills? Yes I used these skills for a pay check for over 7 years, tried to go to college to get a piece of paper that says “I paid someone to give me this piece of paper,” and have tried to keep using these skills even in my current job (which has nothing to do with creative or digital media).
As I journey forward, I am going to try things I’ve not before, I am going to fail, but I am also going to share the lessons i learn from those failures… And try to sell you some T-shirts. This will be a collection of stories from my side hustles. Maybe we’ll learn something. Maybe we won’t. Doesn’t matter. What matters is that we have the journey. There is nothing to gain if you do not experience more than what is here and now.
So, feel free to comment and make suggestions, but please be helpful. The internet is already full of hatred for people you’re never met.
